The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a set of 17 global goals adopted by the United Nations in 2015 as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. These goals aim to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity. They are important because they provide a framework for addressing some of the world's most pressing challenges, such as poverty, inequality, and environmental degradation, and for ensuring that economic growth and development is inclusive and sustainable for all people. Deedmob supports all SDGs directly or indirectly.
Volunteering is essential for the SDGs. Volunteering brings people and communities together to grow, build resilience and develop community responsibility. Social engagement and trust are strengthened through individual and collective volunteer actions. These lead to sustainable and powerful development, for people, by people.
Volunteering also increases civic engagement, inspires others and drives the changes needed to grow the SDGs in communities. Through this civic engagement, volunteering ensures that no one is left behind. The power to reach everyone is essential to localise the SDGs to make sustainability a big deal in local communities as well.
Finally, many SDGs require behavioural and attitudinal changes in ways of living together or consumption, for example. Volunteers, because they are so at the centre of society, inspire communities and facilitate this behavioural change by leading by example. Thus, together, volunteers (organisations) can become pioneers for a sustainable world!
Deedmob's technology empowers volunteer organisations with volunteer-engagement platforms. Our mission is to empower everyone to contribute to a better world. Through our volunteer-engagement platform technology, we facilitate an infrastructure for volunteering, through which individuals, social organisations, nonprofits, charities, companies, schools can find volunteers and connect.
Deedmob believes in measuring the impact of volunteering. A measurement methodology in collaboration with CBS and former prime minister Jan Peter Balkenende was launched in 2020, giving the SDGs a prominent role within the platform. Volunteer activities are automatically linked to the SDGs based on a smart algorithm. With Deedmob, we directly or indirectly contribute to the following SDGs:
